“10/10 for Charlotte. We had visitors and everyone was blown away by the presentation and taste of the cakes.” – Lensen Ingeborg

Patisserie Charlotte: the early days

Her grandmother and mother led by example, and Charlotte learned to make confectionaries almost as soon as she could walk. And in 2015 the time came for Charlotte to set out on her own, making cakes to order in her parents’ garage. They were a roaring success and she soon realised she needed premises, so took over the Godiva chocolate shop in Donk Patio, Brasschaat, Belgium.

From the Godiva chocolate shop to Patisserie Charlotte’s tearoom

The Godiva chocolate and Belgian praline shop turned out to be the perfect location, and so her dream came true in the Donk Patio mall – the perfect combination of tastes from Godiva and Charlotte’s refined confectionaries. The shop was enlarged to include a cosy tearoom and today serves delicious lunches, sumptuous afternoon teas and lungo, espresso, doppio espresso and other coffees as well as organic tea to accompany Charlotte’s cake. Or you can enjoy a warm Callebaut chocolate milk.

And, of course, there’s Pineo water, Natural or Intens. The perfect companion to Charlotte’s desserts.

‘Pineo is naturally-arising untreated mountain water from the Pyrenees, exceptionally low in  sodium, chlorine and nitrates. The German consumer body has called it the best water available.’

Pineo is proud to supply water to Charlotte. Thanks Charlotte!

Patisserie Charlotte: what’s on the tearoom’s menu?

Just a sampling of Charlotte’s sweet treats includes:

  • Caramel cake: shortcrust pastry with salted milk chocolate caramel mousse and pecan nuts.
  • Tarte Tatin: Breton-style shortcrust pastry with crème patissière, almond crumble and caramelised apple.
  • And then there are her chocolate-dipped cookies, brownies and a wide range of cakes too.

Some quiches:

  • goat’s cheese, sundried tomatoes, pumpkin and honey or wild mushrooms, camembert, thyme and leek.
